AMALGAMATIION OF TAPPER COMMUNITIES

As per the G.O.MS.NO.16 dated.19th june, 1997-- BACKWARD CLASSES WELFARE (A1)DEPT.- Amalgamation of several Tapper communities in the state- under one name 'GOUD' in existing list of Backward Classes- Orders - Issued.

Sri Gouthu Latchanna, Honorary President of Andhra Pradesh Gouda Sangam in his representation dated 11.05.1995 addressed to the Government has stated that there are various subsects of tapping community such as Goud, Settibalija, Ediga and Srisayana in different parts of the state and that Andhra Pradesh Gouda Sangham has passed a resolution that all sub-sects of the tapping community should be placed at one entry in the existing state backward class list and requested the Government to issue orders accordingly. The Government referred the said representation to Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes for advice, u/s 9(2) of Backward Class commission. The Backward Class Commission furnished its report to Government on
3-12-'96.

Government after careful examination of the report of Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes and accepted the advice of the Commission and directed that the existing entry No.4 of Group-B of the existing list of Backward Classes be read as "GOUD" (Ediga, Gouda,(Gamalla), Kalalea, Goundla, Settibalija of Visakhapatnam, East Godawari, West Godawari and Krishna Districts and Srisayana(Segidi).
